Leaders in Training

(LIT)

1/6

At Harbor Hills, we know the incredible potential of our teens.  Over the years, in our Teen Travel Program, we have witnessed magnificent acts of kindness, generosity, friendship, sharing, humor and initiative. Harbor Hills’ Leaders-in-Training (LIT) Program for 11th graders is designed to expand the skills they already naturally possess!  LITs gain a fuller and richer perspective on what it means to be a   team player as well as a leader at camp.

As members of high-performing teams at camp, LITSs have a wide range of opportunities to practice the kinds of things leaders say and do. On an everyday basis, Harbor Hills’ Leaders-in-Training learn how to:

  • Take the initiative.

  • Be a role model for younger children.

  • Collaboratively problem-solve and manage conflict.

  • Motivate others.

  • Develop and implement a creative vision.

  • Organize and plan.

  • Be part of a high-performing team and understand team roles.

Harbor Hills’ senior staff meet with LITs on a daily basis to assist LITs in reaching their summer goals. Strong friendships and mentoring relationships are formed as a result of working closely together on a dedicated team. A personal interview is part of the application process.
